So, I've discovered this for some time now but just thought of posting about it today. This might be something or just nothing specially to Ai No Kusabi fans, but, I have high respect for Rieko Yoshihara-sensei so I'm still kind of dismayed over this.
This book, for the lack of better word, 'borrowed' not just the idea but also almost the whole of Ai No Kusabi and didn't even credit sensei for providing such beautiful concept for the author to put into another book and sell to the oblivious readers. But of course, not all were oblivious. The similarities were picked up and these reviews [1,2,3] showed the uncanny resemblance of this book, Breaking Jade, to the series, Ai No Kusabi.
Someone on the Ai No Kusabi LJ group even confronted the author via twitter and got blocked without even a single explanation. Guilty much? Guess, admitting it would be a hard blow to the author's pride.
If the author's a fan of sensei, it's just sad that this is the way a fan would give appreciation towards a highly regarded writer. And Ai No Kusabi is considered a classic in the yaoi world. Despite the growing number of yaoi manga and mangaka, it couldn't be denied that ANK is one of the foundation of the genre.
